Ascham is the only school in Australia to use the Dalton Plan and it sits at the heart of our teaching and learning. This unique Plan provides girls with an extraordinary skill set, not only for school but also in preparing them for life beyond the school gates. Ascham is a school known for outstanding academic results as well as providing an inclusive, warm, inspiring environment for day and boarding students who benefit from so much on offer, not least an exceptional academic program. Through the Dalton Plan and with the encouragement of teachers, her learning will be enriched, new passions discovered, she will be challenged and supported.

Ascham has 1,222 students including 113 boarders, with 170 teachers working with them from Preschool through to Year 12 (the final year of high school in Australia).

Since 2001, Ascham has been a member of, and maintained a close relationship with, Dalton International. The School has welcomed visitors from Dalton International and hosted students studying the Dalton method. Ascham teachers and executive have also been hosted by Dutch schools and attended Dalton International conferences. Ascham kindly invites visitors to observe our Dalton practice; requests should be made through Dalton International as well as Ascham School.

In 2022 Ascham School will be celebrating its 100th anniversary of being a Dalton School.

Chalabalova School started to implement elements of Dalton education in the past decade of the last century. In cooperation with several other Brno schools (Husova, Horacke namesti, Kridlovicka and Masarova) and the City of Brno helped to established The Czech Dalton Association in 1996 (now Czech Dalton). In the following years many international conferences, workshops and active meetings abroad organized by the association in cooperation with the Dalton International and kind professional help of Roel Roehner hugely influenced the school programmes of tens Czech schools. Since 2000 Chalabalova Dalton school has worked intensively with partner Dalton schools especially in Holland, Austria, Germany, Hungary, Poland and also progressive schools in Spain, Norway, N.Ireland, England ... Evolution of Brno Dalton schools influenced also contacts with educators from New York Dalton School and Ascham Sydney.

Dalton College is not simply a school with classrooms. The school has been designed according to the laboratory system. Each teacher has their own classroom and students travel to different laboratories according to their lessons.

My relation with Dalton International started about 20 years ago.  I was the webmaster of Dalton International. Many times I have attended the International Dalton Conferences in Brno (Czech Republic) and Austria.  The school is located in the Moravian metropolis Brno's historical centre and consists of a kindergarten, a primary and lower-secondary school. We are currently educating 580 children at the age of 3 to 16. We began implementing the elements of the Dalton Plan in the 1990s. Primary school Masarova is an urban settlement school that has been offering education to pupils of elementary and secondary stage since the year 1982. Every year there are about 700 pupils. The school works according to its own educational programme "Opportunity for everyone“ and tries to realize following priorities: language communication and foreign language education, project and Dalton education, personal and social education, leisure activities. Our school is a member of the Czech Dalton and cooperates with Dalton International. In our School Pedagogical Centre the school psychologist, special pedagogue, methodist of prevention and educational and career consultant work. Skilled assistants work with pupils with special educational needs and we also provide individual care to pupils with learning disabilities. Our school pays attention to working with the class teams during the special lessons called "little houses“. Various activities focus on improving relationships between the pupils and the teacher and among the pupils themselves. Also social-pathological appearance prevention takes part here once a week. Pupils are also allowed to present their suggestions and ideas in the School Pupils Parliament that sits regularly once a month.

In Wenzhou Dalton, no bell-rings can be heard. Study is organized into groups and individual work and learning takes place in diverse elective and small classes. At Wenzhou Dalton Elementary school, the daily schedule consists of planned classes, snack sharing time, recess time, self-directed lunch time and Dalton Study Lab. An integration of mixed-ability classes and streamed classes, personalized time-tables, theme activities, leisure time, community services as well as global study programs enables students to learn and grow at their own pace, while teachers serve as facilitators and guides for the learning process. Students at Wenzhou Dalton not only acquire knowledge in class but also develop their abilities in study lab. Our school is located in Brno. Over 800 pupils attend our school, and they are cared for by 55 teachers, 28 teaching assistants and 9 tutors. Dalton Principles has been part of our teaching since 1997. The school has been a member of Dalton International since 2007. Dalton education significantly impacts the atmosphere of the whole school and also the relations between teachers and pupils. We are trying to share our experiences with future teachers during our collaboration with Masaryk University. Our teachers regularly attend Dalton education conferences, not only as participants but also as lecturers.
